00 Are you tired of feeling hopeless, or do you feel as though you carry around an invisible ball and chain? If so, you are in the right place. It's time now for Awaken Hope with Kandiee Campbell. Kandiee is a therapist and grief counselor that works with women to help them process and heal from emotional events that can keep them feeling stuck. Let's take this journey together. And now, here's your host, Kandiee Campbell. Hello, hello, hello, welcome back to Awaken Hope. I am so super grateful that you are choosing to tune in. I have the privilege of having a wonderful guest with me today. But before we get into her introduction, I do have one housekeeping thing to do.
48 I am coming to you from the beautiful state of Hawaii. Being said, my location happens to be underneath the flight line to the Honolulu Airport, as well as near a fire station. So if you hear a plane or a jet flyover, or you hear a siren go by, we will take a momentary pause. Unfortunately, we cannot compete with those sounds, but try, it doesn't work. So without further ado, I'd love to introduce my wonderful guest, Sandy Evenson. She is a mentor of mine, and I am so super grateful that she is the best on my show. She's a women's empowerment coach, a multi-award winning bestselling author, and she is helping women tap into their power, beauty, and brilliance to shine their best life.
50 Welcome Sandy. Thank you so much for being a guest today on the Awaken Hope show. Ah, hello, hello, hello to you too, Kandiee and everyone. Thank you for having me. We're so super blessed that you are coming to share. I must say, Sandy has been a guest on my show before, we talked about, um, then you talked about the promotion of your best-selling book, Woo Woo Way. Yes. So what are you, what expertise will you share with us today? Oh my gosh. So you know, Kandiee, I first have to say that, um, I am so honored and privileged to be here because I feel like you and those of us who do this work, we've been called to hold a torch of hope and this hope for the world, you know, and so I think we affect every listener and they in the ripple effect do that and I'm just so happy to be here as well because of that.
02 And I have to fill you in because you know, I'm including the term multi-award winner in my bio because I just received two more in the last few days and that puts me up at eight book awards. I'm just totally blown away, I'm told by all my mentors that that's just evidented, um, three of them are, three or four of them are more of the minor award, like a runner-up or you know, that kind of thing, but lots of winners, I'm just so, so blown away by that and it just really reinforces that the message is getting through and the last one I got was for the e-book, so you know, that was, it's on Kindle and it's an audiobook too and people are really loving that, I don't know if you're like me, but I like to, I usually like to listen to fiction when I'm chopping vegetables for dinner, but there's so much to listen to.
07 The last thing I did was listen to this actually to yours, so I love doing that and you know, I'm diving in once again, the perpetual student, I am studying a deeper way of using all the methods that I have and creating actually a breakthrough of a hybrid of my own that's just a unique way to coach and help people break through all of those blocks that they have and you know, breaking free from what's stopping them doing what they want to do and it's fascinating to me that we sort of reach a certain age where we start saying wait, I thought it was going to be different by now, what's going on, why does this keep happening, I don't want to do this anymore, you know, whatever it is, whether it's your health and your weight or your money or your family or you know, all your desires, it's crazy, why do I keep doing this and this is the work that we do, we help people break through that and that's been a core thing now, so I'm in this advanced workshop, it's actually a 16 week course with two women who are coming together from the UK, combining the psychotherapy and with the somatic EFT and bringing it together and it's clarifying for me that I've been doing a lot of it already, just didn't have a name for it, so I'm going to be able to help people even faster get through these eight blocks that they don't even know they have, you know, it's subconscious and they know they have it but they don't know what it is, it's like something's there, I just know it, right, we've all done that and we spent so much time spinning in our head about it, what is it, what is it, what is it, what am I doing wrong, why, and I just want everybody to know that you are not broken, this is not about judging, it's about self compassion, about you know, how you built the devices to survive throughout your life. And we do all have them, unfortunately, you know, many of us had a lot of events occur in our early childhood life, trauma, whether it be big trauma or little trauma, it still occurred and it impacted it, they usually, or at least I discovered occurred at a time when we were still molding and growing and so that became part of that our life took on. And at least I'm speaking for me, I know because my trauma started at three. So yes, and it can really even start before then pre verbal, even the womb we understand because you're picking up on the person that is your birth mother carrying you with her stress and her baggage, right, and whatever's going on there and now we know really it's ancestral, it can come from a long, long time. But, you know, definitely increments in our development as children as when our energy system begins to grow when those energy centers we call chakras come on board, and anywhere from the womb all the way up to around age 12 or 13. So there's definitely times within that, when we didn't get the connection, get the support. And these, it's like a blueprint, you know, I talk about the house of view to explain our inner energy system. So if we talk about that, architects blueprint, it has like a coding from, you know, it's interesting that just hit me, you know, is your is your building up to code? How about your energy system itself? So it actually has its own life code. It's an unconscious life plan that comes on board in childhood.
40 It's reinforced by parents and society and teachers and, you know, all of the constructs of how we grow up. And there are subsequent events that pile on top of one another and reinforce that, whatever the belief we took on. And, you know, it culminates in this chosen alternative. You know, are you like me where when you have your inner system feels threatened, you might want to just shrink and get quiet or disappear, go hide, you know, or you might stand and fight stand up for yourself and maybe your people think you're too loud and too boisterous or there might be something like also a big trait for a lot of us women where we it's called fawning where you're like a little fawn and you have an enmeshment with the other person or people and you don't know where they start and you leave off. And it's people pleasing to the max on confrontational. Right. So it comes through as learning and absorbing this coding and it creates this pathway. It's actually a neural pathway and we call it a life script and we say I am and it comes in with, you know, I am loved and I am smart and I am worthy at, you know, I am lucky or it comes through as I am unlovable.
31 I am dumb and stupid. I am unlucky. I'm only okay if and fill in that blank, right? We all have it. We all have these scripts and they are so buried in the conscious that we don't even realize that that's how we're rolling. And we often say, yeah, I said it. Oh, it's just me. So I roll. No. Essentially on autopilot. I mean, it just becomes so a mess and you are that you go on autopilot automatically and you don't even realize that you're doing your same thing because it's so you talk about going back to your three year old and and that three year old leaves that it's her fault and she still comes up today and we go right there. It's like, Oh, that's me. I have to apologize now or I have to make amends. Yeah.
38 That's crazy. Well, ladies and gentlemen, we're going to take a small short break, but we're going to come back. We're going to learn more because this, I don't know about you. I can't speak for other people, but I know for me, this is truly a fascinating subject because we are so much impacted by things that occur in our youth. We don't realize it because they do put us on autopilot and stuff. So stay tuned. We'll be back and continue with the story. Well, Hey there. My name is Michelle Sorrow. 13:10 Welcome back to Awaken Hope. I am so super grateful. Again, I have the pleasure of having Sandy Evenson as the guest on my show. She is a best-selling author. So she has some wonderful expertise. We were talking over the break about how, you know, all of us have our inner child that was probably at some point hurt, some were more damaged than others, but some type of hurt. And it's learning in this, or at least my understanding of stuff is it's about learning and awareness when that younger child is trying to get your attention and what to do when you get out of balance. What do you, what's your recommendation, your expertise? Oh my gosh. Well, like you said, awareness of the imbalance, like, you know, when you know that there's something's off and you can't quite figure it out, that is your inner self trying to get your intention. So often when we don't recognize it or we ignore it, we deny it, it begins to build up and the body keeps the score. So you will have some kind of physical effect to it. And you might just have a little, you know, particularly those of us who have learned about this and learn to work with our inner selves, you'll have a little and you'll know how to, oh, okay, I got to pay attention to that. But most of the time it builds up into some sort of illness, a disease, even an accident where you break something, something. And it's interesting, Kandiee, because for your listeners, I spent most of my lifetime as a hairstylist, colorist, and I had some incredible coaching going on, didn't even know that I was doing that from behind the chair. But I would tell some of the women, a lot of them were, they were just delightful, wonderful, loving people, but they were doing, doing, giving, giving, giving for everyone else. And so therefore letting themselves not, not be taken care of in the least. So I would always say, look, if you don't stop, if you don't get some rest, because most of them weren't really sleeping very well, you know, you're, you're gonna come down, your body is going to take you down.
59 Now I thought they're going to get the flu. They're going to be sick for a few days. No Kandiee, every single one of these women I'm talking about, and this is several years ago now, the ones that are, I'm picturing, they all got cancer. Oh my gosh. And they didn't make it back then. We didn't really have enough of what we have today. Uh, you know, we, we know a lot more and we have so many more ways of, uh, dealing with that. But it, I was already in the throes of trying to help people to understand beauty from the inside out, how to understand how to feed their body, uh, and do the other things to be healthy to have good hair, skin, and nails. I had no idea that all these years later, now I'm doing the same thing. In fact, my, uh, I picked up the same tagline for my newsletter on Substack and it's called beauty from the inside out. So we can talk about that inner being, you know, the body, mind, and spirit, that little inner child who needs so much love and compassion.
17 Right. And so we do a lot of, um, work around the child and to recognize that she's the one who is bothering you in some way. She's trying to get your attention and you know, she might even be coming to you from a bit of an older age. Maybe she's a teenager in her twenties or even older. Uh, but she was initially brought into her beliefs when she was very, very young. So that's the one that's there. And so when, for instance, she didn't attach and have a very good bonding with her mother or both parents and her foundation is very, very weak. She's got cracks there and she can't stand, um, safely. That's the person that is often always feels so unsafe and they're more susceptible to PTSD when traumas happen. Like she gets it. She's like, Oh, I was right. I am not safe. You know, so this healing work is around integration, you know, putting the overall life and perspective, putting things back in order. So we have a tendency to kind of file things away in weird ways. You know, um, I can tell you a story about working with a woman on for weight loss and the idea of, um, there's two different things. There's, there's cravings and there's emotional eating and they're different. When we leave cravings, there's something really good about it. There's some good memory, uh, in the craving, emotional eating is usually the, I go back just a second. The craving is there's like this one thing that you really want to have. And in emotional eating, it's pretty much everything. And I do this. I go back and forth between sweet and salty, crispy and crunchy and creamy, you know, all of it, you know, just what can I eat? What can I have to do all that work on myself, uh, to, to keep from doing that. So I was working with a woman for the cravings and you know, explaining that we have almost like file cabinets that we keep things in and we're just going to go in and we're going to rearrange and put that craving where it belongs. Cause it stuck over here somewhere else. Well, and it turned out as we worked through visualization and going back to the first time she really enjoyed that particular thing, it was with her grandmother and it was making cookies. And so the cookie had grandma's love in it.
18 So there's a specific exercise to go through to take all that goodness and love out of the cookie and back into your heart. There's a really cool ball of light type of exercise we do so that in the end we see, Oh, the cookie doesn't love me. It couldn't, you know, and there's just this really cool part of it. And some people that takes more and we can do a hundred different kinds of food in those cravings to just really kind of keep them where they need to be, you know, and it's just, it's phenomenal to go there. I've discovered that chocolate for me is both crazy stuff. I'm really cool memories with my dad. And then I realized that there's also the emotional part of it of not really good memories with what my dad did. And then also my late husband, there's some around that and I still have to do work on that. So, you know, those are just little tiny things because they build up over time, you know, and when someone doesn't feel worthy, they don't feel young enough, thin enough, smart enough, healthy enough, good enough. I'm too old. I'm too fat. I'm too this, I'm too that. I'm too loud, too much. I'm not enough. You know, it's so ingrained in us. And it comes from some kind of trauma we have that we didn't even know.
00 So if someone wanted to work with you and said, oh my gosh, I definitely resonate with that. How can we get in touch with you? Fastest easiest way is to find me at sandyevenson.com. 27:10 Welcome back to Awaken Hope. We are back with the wonderful author and my mentor, Sandy Evenson. So we were talking over the break about various things, but one of the things that really did intrigue me when you were talking was there's so much like you said before the break, our stress levels are through the roof. Most people have more stress these days than they've ever had in their entire life. How does one I mean, what's your suggestion recommendation that they can learn to mitigate? Yes, we know the inner child is screaming for attention. He or she is screaming. It's like, hello, hello, hello. Yes, yes. But if you're so stressed, you're not necessarily. No, exactly. And stress. I love to get into stress reduction right away. I find most people that's where they're coming from, because they're really spinning around in their heads about everything going on, you know, whether they can or can't do things and not feeling safe and secure in the world. So that's where the tapping comes in. Because tapping alone, just with your fingertips, is it's not just a woo woo thing, even though that's title of my book, just to get your attention.
